The Skinner Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on combating the disparities in adolescent health & wellness through education and mentoring resources for youth in the St. Petersburg & surrounding Tampa Bay areas. The Skinner Foundation forms partnerships with local school districts, community organizations, and other community-based groups who are focused on creating strong, safe, and sustainable programs that promote positive environments for our youth. Through our programs and services, our youth will develop a foundation of fundamental life skills that will serve as a catalyst to developing a positive self-image and molding future generations.

The Skinner Foundation was established by three brothers, Terrell, Darrian, and Jocquel Skinner. Natives to St. Petersburg, Florida the three brothers are products of community-based organizations that were instrumental in their success. As they matured into young men, they engaged in various volunteer opportunities to further serve their community. The Skinner brothers all excelled in athletics & academia, and they all went on to pursue their dreams of becoming professional athletes. No matter where life’s journey took them, their passion for serving the community always remained a priority.

The Skinner brothers started off giving away backpacks at their local home church’s Vacation Bible School. With aspirations to do more in the community and increase their efforts, the brothers formally established The Skinner Foundation in February 2020. Since the inception of the foundation, the Skinner brothers, along with a host of sponsors, supporters, and volunteers, have contributed to the lives of thousands of people in the St. Petersburg & surrounding Tampa Bay areas. The Skinner Foundation hosts an annual Back-to-School event to prepare children and families for a new school year; during the holiday season, the foundation provides women and children shelters with holiday meals as well as community food drives. In addition to the free community events, the foundation provides health and wellness-related programs geared towards local schools and organizations. The foundation also established a scholarship program for student athletes at Boca Ciega High School Center for Wellness and Medical Profession for high school seniors. As each year passes, The Skinner Foundation’s goal and objective is to continue to grow and develop into an effective resource for the community.

In addition to our efforts in the St. Petersburg and surrounding Tampa Bay areas, The Skinner Foundation also supports the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area. Owner and Executive Director Terrell Skinner attended the University of Maryland -College Park as a student-athlete. The Skinner Foundation partners with local community organizations and holds various community events to provide resources to the surrounding Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area.
